PM: Global Development and Security Initiative Vital to Developing Countries

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen said that while the world recovers from the Covid-19 crisis, the economy and global development continue to face complex and pointed problems in both social and financial areas.

The Prime Minister therefore expressed support for promoting regional integration and multilateralism with the launch of the "Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative" proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. China has been a powerful force in supporting developing countries through socio-economic rehabilitation.

Speaking at the first high-level meeting of the Forum on Global Activities for Joint Development on the morning of July 10, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that in the current global context of polarization, mutual aid and development is indispensable in improving human capital, bridging the digital gap, strengthening supply and production chains, promoting direct investment in infrastructure, and developing the green economy.

He noted that there should be a common framework that takes into account the strategies and mechanisms of cooperation, especially the planning and financing of priority projects to ensure the effective implementation of these initiatives.

The Prime Minister stated that within their bilateral relations, Cambodia and China have strived to promote cooperation to the highest level to become a "Diamond Cooperation" which was detailed in the "Joint Statement on Building a Common Destiny Cambodia –China Community in the New Era (2024-2028)."

"I believe that the promotion of Cambodia-China cooperation will complement the initiatives for global development to be more effective," he said.
